The FEBG Tournament Open 2026 - The Spanish National Championship which will go under the name of "Stranger in the Room" tournament will be held in Arona, Tenerife over the 10th & 11th of January 2026 in collaboration with the 10BC Tenerife Backgammon Club. +Info soon. Contact us for details.

FEBG RULES

STRANGER IN THE ROOM II

DESCRIPTION & FORMAT :

We invite you to our next Backgammon Tournament “Stranger in the Room II” which will be held on Saturday the 10th & 11th of January 2026 and will be a Swiss Style - 5 Lives + Top 16 will progress onto the Double Elimination + Consolation Rounds. All other players will be out of this tournament.

The Spain National Championship - 2026

TOURNAMENT FORMAT :

1. MAIN (up to semi finales): 5 point matches in the main,

2. SEMI FINALES : 7 Point Matches,

3. MAIN FINAL : 13 point match for the Final, The Consolation winner will need to win both matches to be the overall winner.
   
   

FEES & PAYOUT:

Registration Fee - €20 + Entry Fee - €35* ( * - All back into the Tournament)

PAYOUT :
Overall Winner = 70% + 10BC & FEBG Trophy
Runner Up = 30% + 10BC & FEBG Trophy

9:00-10:00 Registration & Announcement.

Play-offs for the final places in the last 16 if there are any ties (1 point matches)

There will be optional side pools of €10, €20, €30 & €50. Payment for side pools will be taken on the Day.

ADDITIONAL KNOCKOUTS :
Didn't get as far as you wanted to? We'll be running 8 player knockouts throughout the day at €10 or €20 per player.

MANDATORY PLAY :

1. Clocks : Clocks will be in play at 2 minutes per point, (eg, 5 point matches 10 minutes, 7 point matches 14 minutes.) you got it.

2. Precision dice are mandatory (we have enough)

3. Dice Shakers or Baffle boxes (Not permitted to throw the dice from the hand)

4. Legal Dice have to be laying flat on the right hand side of the board. Cocked dice or dice on checkers are not allowed.

5. Premature Rolling, The Dice MUST STAY on the board, please don't pick them up that is your roll.

PLEASE NOTE :

1. Tournament is OPEN and capped at 32 players,

2. Registration will open at 9:00am and close at 10:00am on the same day as the Tournament,

3. All matches will start at 10:30am,

4. If you are spectating please do not speak to the players or distract them,

5. If you are late, you will lose 1 point for every 10 minutes you are late,

6. Players who lose half their points due to being late will forfeit that round, and their opponent will be granted an automatic win,

7. Please be on time and don't be busy,

8. Please be careful with your drinks, food, chewing gum etc etc around the equipment you are using,

9. Please treat players with respect especially the Staff & the other customers,

10. You are representing our federation and clubs whilst you are there,

11. The Tournament Director can change or modify these rules as and when he see fit to do so and will always have the final say please respect that,

12. These rules can be modified as and when before the tournament final start date/time without due notice. Please pay attention to the announcements,

13. The last RULE is, Please don't forget to ENJOY our fantastic game.
